Step Up Changing Table

This was a commission for a local nursery I made earlier in the month.

It's the one my son attends (although he no longer needs the changer) so it was lovely to work for them.

I've done a full video on the process of making it, watch it and let me know what you think.

I made the whole project with 18mm birch faced ply, leaving the edges exposed to complete the look. I was really pleased with how it turned out.

A really fun and interesting project to make.

Library Commission - Reading Pods & Tree Wall Art

So a few months ago I got an email asking about a reading chair in the forest school area. I volunteered my services to build it, I thought that'll be fun! Somewhere along the line the new school library became my baby instead!
The village has had it's school in temporary accommodation for the last three years, and although it's been fine it's not the best for the children and tricky for them at times (too hot in summer for one).
So over the last year there has been a new school being built with much excitement from everyone who has children there.

Shop Counter

This counter is one I built for my fathers firm back in the summer. I managed to get it painted a few weeks ago as they were moving into the office. It's being used now and it seems to work well.
The brief was a good solid top, shelves to store leaflets and an area to display them. I made the majority out of 18mm and 12mm ply. The top was doubled up for extra strength, and all edged so it could be painted to a good finish.
Tehmidle section. 3x2 stud sandwiched with 12mm ply.

Starting to take shape. The Festool came into it's own on the project, allowing me to make straight cuts on the ply

Shelves all fitted in the main unit

A second unit to store manuals and other bits built to the side

Edging the top. I used 2x1 PSE for edging so it's nice and strong.

The unit finished ready for painting

Three coats of paint later it's all finished

A little side bar going off to one side as well.
A great project to build and I'll be interested to see if it works as well as we think it will.

Making A Wooden Cooker Hood

A customer wanted an unusual cooker hood for their kitchen extractor to go above the cooker.
This is what he came up with!

Built out of ply, biscuit jointed together and bolted to the ceiling joists, this makes a bold statement in the kitchen but it looks good, even though I was quite sceptical as I made it!
