Fitted Book Shelves

I fitted this book shelf a couple of weeks ago, fitted into an alcove in one of the bedrooms.
I made them out of Sapele with brass strips either side, so the height of the shelves can be adjusted to suit the books it's holding.
Painted up they work quite well in the room, although I think I'd have them fitted down to the floor if they were mine.

  1. Looks great Kev and I can just picture it full of books - wish it was mine! That floor space at the bottom will be handy for a box or basket of stuff.

    1. Yeah I could do with it in my house as well. I've got far too many books!

  2. It looks lovely Kev, but I agree, down to the floor would have been better!

    1. The customer must have a plan for the space I think.

  3. Kev, how do you re-paint this? The brass strips are a pain. They are too small to mask and to fiddly and bendy to completely remove before painiting, especially if you have a couplf of dozen to do.

    1. I think you'd have to take out the brass strips if you were going to repaint it. It's not too many screws and if you used masking tape it never looks as good when it done
